Ep40 Sad "I will find her. I have to find out how she became who she is. I have to know why."

The subject of this article relates to an unproduced installment of the franchise, so the information is unseen.

“This is the outline for what would have become episode 41 of NEXO KNIGHTS. We kind of expected the project would be closed down, so I wrote it on my own time ... just in case. Pretty good concept and opener if I may say so myself.”
Tommy Andreasen on Twitter[1]

Coming of the Technomancer was the intended first episode of the fifth season of Nexo Knights and the forty-first episode overall. Due to budget issues, this and the rest of Season 5 was cancelled.[2] In his free time, Tommy Andreasen wrote the outline of the episode, despite being aware of the likelihood of the series' cancellation, which he released on July 10, 2020.[1]

Plot[]

The episode starts with Jestro and Roberto Arnoldi finishing their community service. The former claims that he will never do anything evil or sweep ever again, after which the two are led away by Squirebots to await new assignments.

Meanwhile, King and Queen Halbert are getting ready to leave for the eastern shore to celebrate their twenty-fifth anniversary and leave Macy in charge of the kingdom, in spite of her objections. Jestro and Roberto are dismissed by the king who tells them to "go do something else useful".

The episode then cuts to Aaron, Lance and Axl fighting Stone Monsters, specifically Lord Krakenskull, the Harpies and Three Brothers. It's revealed that Axl had gone on a diet ever since he's been traumatised by getting eaten by Monstrox, while Lance is more interested in talking about his Lancetastic skin care products rather than fighting. Aaron wonders why the monsters have switched their focus to stealing electronics. As the three knights head home, Aaron wonders when Robin will get the Fortrex rolling again. Meanwhile, Robin declares Fortrex to be beyond repair. As he, Ava and Merlok 2.0, still in his Mechlok body, decide to salvage everything they can from it and set up a new base of operations, Clay arrives, revealing his worries about his magic, which he still hasn't learned to control properly. As he prepares to set off on a quest to find his mother, Merlok offers his assistance, only for Clay to decline. The wizard advises that his nephew goes north so that he may find the meeting place of the Wizards' Council. As Clay leaves, Fletcher follows him in secret.

Meanwhile in the Rock Wood Forest, the Stone Monsters bring everything they've stolen to Ruina Stoneheart, who then forces the Merry Mechs to work on a new device. Once it's completed, Ruina places the crystal she recovered from the remains of the Stone Colossus on it, and Monstrox comes back to life, but in form of a hologram, which he has trouble adjusting to. Ruina then explains to him that the reason Nexo Knights were always able to defeat him was because they had technology on their side, and now they can turn the table on them. Monstrox uses his powers to brainwash the Merry Mechs, putting them under his control, but isn't impressed. Ruina then tells her master than she has someone with a little more "bite" in mind.

Monstrox and Ruina arrive at a Gothic castle and enter it, and Monstrox realizes what his servant had in mind. Inside, the two come across a coffin that opens as night comes. Dragov appears from it and is startled by Monstrox's new appearance, as well as him asking for assistance. The necromancer sweet-talks his former colleague into helping him by claiming that he can help him become "the Techonomancer" like he wanted to two centuries ago, as well as get revenge on Merlok, after which the vampire agrees. Monstrox releases holographic bugs who crawl all over Dragov, turning him into a cyborg and giving him his lost strength back. He points at the coffins where his children are, and Monstrox releases more bugs to give them the same power.

In the Rumble Rocket, parked in Merlok's Library, Ava and Robin install the computers while Jestro is sweeping and occasionally asks them questions, seemingly understanding Ava's answers to them. Outside, the king and queen finally depart in the royal carriage, escorted by the Nexo Knights. Lance applies some of his skin care and gives some to the royal couple as a present. Finally, the king and queen leave, with the knights, Merlok and FancyPants bidding them farewell. Macy becomes the head of the kingdom, still unhappy about it, but begrudgingly accepts her new role. The knights don't realize they are being watched by Monstrox, Ruina, Stone Monsters, Dragov and two other vampires. It's revealed that Dragov believes that Merlok betrayed him, stole his powers and claimed his idea of fusing technology and magic, and grows furious at seeing him. The villains attack, luring the knights away from Merlok, who the vampires pile upon, tearing his body apart. Holographic bugs come out of Monstrox's critter base, bite Mechlok, draining him of his Nexo Power, and return to their master with the power. Merlok decides that he has one thing to do and casts a spell which dissolves him into a number of glowing shields, with the explosion sending them far away. Only one falls on the ground where Mechlok used to be. Elsewhere, Clay is struck with pain and falls to his knees. He sees a shield flying past him and, wondering if this is Merlok's way of guiding him, continues his journey, with Fletcher still following him.

Back at the site of battle, the knights, (barring Lance, who is more worried about the side effects of his skin care manifesting) are forced to retreat, as Monstrox powers the vampires up with Nexo Powers, but not without reclaiming the remaining piece of Merlok, leaving the villains to gloat in their victory.
