Designer's notes[]
I built a sketch model for the Kings mech, then we discussed the how it was integrated in the TV show and found there were two mechs in the plot, the Black Knight mech which was later refined into a mech for the King. So Junya Suzuki took my sketch and developed it into a smaller more high tech version for the King (70327) which has very little to do with the original model while I took it in a more primitive larger and rougher looking version for the Black Knight. Unfortunately later the order the sets came out in was reversed so this low tech version now has to follow Junya's absolutely amazing version onto the market. Apologies to anyone who is therefore disappointed by this one, hopefully it's still pretty cool.
The little weapon platform was originally a small tower that joined to the side of the weird sticking out wall on Jestro's Volcano Lair, but this was later taken out, feel free to MOC it back in![2]
Trivia[]
- Whiparella and this version of Kingbot is exclusive to this set.
- The Black Knight Mech from this set is colored highly inaccurately compared to its show form, with parts that should be black being colored blue.
